unbelievable!

Like Bob said when he sent this article my way, it's amazing that even editors and publishers don't know -- or at least don't 'get' -- the extent of the damage, the need, the destruction, the recovery yet to come.

Editors and publishers toured the Gulf Coast, from New Orleans to Biloxi (a familiar stretch, huh, Rod?) and were astonished at what they saw. Even after they'd had staff reports from the very area, pictures and all.

It's THAT dramatic, seeing it for yourself.

Makes you want to do something, doesn't it?!

Hmm, wonder how you could do something to help ... Hmmmm.

i didn't manage to snap any pics of my "milestone" locations on this trip back, but yeah, you rite. it's still a mess. i did notice however, working street lights at every intersection and birds - things i had not seen in nola since...

ooo and no abandoned cars. and it looks like people may be mowing the yards of their blighted neighbors and the neutral grounds.

the northshore looks so much better. i'm no so sure the untrained eye would really see just how fscked up it all got. heck mandeville even grew another starbucks.

oh - and damn i swear the people were even nicer than i remember. it's niec to be called baby!

met a bunch of national association of realtors convetioneers at the airport a bunch who stayed late just to go fix stuff. tip of the hat.
